Non-stop production

Audio–installation | in Loop, 1h 29 min | 2016

What was produced here? Where did people take their breaks and what about the closing of the factory? Durchlaufbetrieb (non-stop production) was created with the participation of different people who worked for Cellulose Attisholz. In the course of several tours of the factory site these people talk about their former jobs, their points of view and memories of the day-to-day of working there. The installation also includes objects found on the factory grounds.

In detail:

Which work procedures and how were they carried out in the various premises of Cellulose Attisholz? What else happened apart from work? These were some of the questions that drove me to search for people who worked in this factory. Along with the concrete ‘What, where and how of production’, I am interested in the working procedures, memories of the daily work routine, stories, adventures and anecdotes in relation to working at Cellulose Attisholz.

The elements mounted on the wall are objects found on the factory grounds.

The accounts of the various participants converge in the audio installation. Discussion points include procedures in the different operating areas, insights into the production line but also aspects of spending breaks together, sticking together and solidarity as well as the closing of Cellulose Attisholz.
